Hosehill Lake, Theale ~ Path maintenance

Sections of the path which circumnavigates Hosehill Lake are prone to becoming muddy during periods of wet weather and the task was to raise the level of one such section to provide a drier and more even surface for walkers.

Retaining timbers were placed along the lower side of the path.

Time for a break!

Break time view.

Ballast ('Type 1') delivered ready for infilling, .....

..... it's just a matter of barrowing it to the path.

The symbolic first barrow .....

..... after which it's soon time for lunch.

Work resumes.

Mechanical assistance.

The leveller.

Final touches.

Compacting with a 'wacker plate'.

With the job done there's just time for a quick wander around the site to see what else is to be seen.
