Kings Meadow ~ Willow harvest

Start of task - some background information about the willow and willow beds including details of how and when they came to be planted and by whom, followed by the day's objectives.

2016 appears to have been an excellent year for bramble which had managed to smother some of the beds much to the detriment of the willow.

Our first priority was to clear the bramble in order to get access to the willow. After an hour's work there was already a noticeable difference .....

..... and harvesting could commence.

Sorting and bundling.

By the end of the day a considerable quantity of willow had been cut, much of it destined on this occasion for the RISC roof garden and the Food4Famlies project.
