On a sunny summer's day this is a wonderful example of chalk grassland with many of the plants and butterflies associated with this type of habitat present. On a rainy day it is bleak and so it was on this day but despite the weather there were still plenty of meadow brown butterflies together with the occasional marbled white to be seen.
By lunch with everyone thoroughly wet it was decided to call it a day and we headed for home.
