Waterloo Meadows ~ Coppicing

The purpose of the task was to obtain materials, stakes and binders, for our hedgelaying task at the site at the end of January.

The hedge to be laid is located in part under a power line and there had recently been a visit from the electricity supply company during which they had cut back trees growing under the cables.

The entire length of the hedge to be laid had originally looked like this.

The section under the power lines had been drastically thinned which should greatly simplify laying.

The materials were obtained from a small area of hazel coppice in part of the site known as Halls Copse.

Material that could be used was made into habitat piles including log piles.

Many thanks to all who joined us for the day, Alan, Anna, Dave, David, Jan, John, Marcus, Mike and Peter
