Our second visit to Blundells Copse this year to continue work on the coppice plot we had started in January.
On this occasion we were to be joined by pupils from Churchend Primary School studying woodlands and their management.
Emma had decided to indulge us with homemade chocolate cake for coffee break which she had been up late making. We were all very impressed and wished her many more sleepless nights.
The children (not pictured here) helped coppice this stool.
No coppicing task would be complete without a bonfire but despite having been told this was happening, we had a visit from the fire brigade (fortunately they raised no concerns).
Stakes and binders cut during the day were to be used for a hedgelaying task.
Job done.
Thanks to everyone who joined us and in particular to Emma for the cake. Delicious!
