Hosehill Lake, Theale ~ Hedgelaying and path clearance

A return visit to complete laying of the hedge started in November.

We were joined for the morning by BBOWT trainees interested in gaining hedgelaying experience.

The site is much used both by bird watchers and those just out for a walk and after the recent rain, snow and frost, some paths were becoming increasingly muddy. As the hedgelaying was well under way part of the group went to widen the muddiest of the nearby paths cutting back vegetation to provide more space for the walkers and help the paths dry out once the weather improves.

By the end of the task the hedge was almost complete with only a small section still to be bound.
