Padworth Common ~ Scrub clearance

Continuing the removal of pine scrub isolating a small area of heath from the rest of common, work on which we had started in January.

The puddles were no longer covered with ice as they had been on our previous visit but a cold wind blew across the common for which the prospect of baked potatoes for lunch was some compensation.

Loading potatoes onto a hot fire is always a tricky business .....

..... and retrieving them once cooked even more so .....

..... but you know your efforts will be appreciated.

With lunch over and the pine in the northwest corner of the site cleared, our attention turned to the northeast corner.

The day draws to a close!

Blue skies and sunshine can be deceptive for they say nothing of the rain and sleet from which we found ourselves sheltering moments earlier.

Northwest, .....

..... northeast.
